Back in the early '70s, Aztalan was founded, and shortly thereafter Mike and Gayle Gaborsky, who both worked at a small dealership in the Milwaukee area, got the idea to sell Motocross related items at the track. Their first "Torque Center" was nothing more than big foot lockers, full of MX items, hauled out to the track in the trunk of their car. They found an appreciative customer base. From there, they went to renting a small store, and ultimately the Torque Center on National Avenue. Both Mike and Gayle continued to be a great supporting presence at Aztalan throughout the years. Regretfully, Parkinson's disease took Mike from all of us in 2005.
This friendship stone, installed September 2006, resides on the Aztalan Cycle Club grounds, near the scoring tower. It's a reminder of the dear friends the Gaborskys have been to the Aztalan Cycle Club and the sport we love. |
